1. Makeup. Get ready, your mind is about to be *blown*.
- Eyeliner. The most needy part of being a K-pop star is the eyeliner. Anybody who's seen Jiyeon from Dream High knows that cat-eyes are in-style! So, extend your eyeliner to make a cat-eye look! The more bold and extended, the better. Note: This creates the illusion of looking older, so, if you do sport a heavy cat-eye, know that you'll look 2-3 years older.
- Mascara. The fuller-looking your lashes, the better. Fake lashes and generous coats of mascara are neccesary. Mascara and fake lashes.
- Eyeshadow. K-pop stars use minimal eye shadow, and often don't use it at all. But when eyeshadow is neccesary, they stick to smokey eyes, white, glittery silver and gold eyeshadow.
- Lips. The lips of a K-pop star are typically kept neutral - never too bright. Pink is good for an IU-like essence, and red is good for a Hyuna-appearance. But whatever you do - never, ever, ever use dark colors.
- Skin. Koreans love clear, light-colored skin, so if you happen to have some blemishes or tan skin, then bust out the foundation. You'll want to go 2-3 shades lighter than your usual color, depending on the intensity of your foundation.
- Contouring. This is optional - if your facial features aren't exactly sharp and angular, then consider contouring. If you want to keep your look innocent, like IU, then skip this altogether. If you looking trying for a Hyuna-style face, then contour the sides of your face and nose.
- Skirts. Unless you're trying to go SNSD-style with short-shorts, avoid pants in general. They are rarely worn in the first place.
- Crop Jackets. Crop jackets, not shirts. This is a popular article of clothing for all stars - from Drama-wear, airport fashion, and professional photoshoots, its good all around.
- Accessorize. Go all-out with classy earrings, metallic jewelery, and big rings.
- Keep it PG-13. As "daring" as K-pop gets, it's no more than what one would see at the beach.
EDIT: I learned this good trick that I think will help the Americans doing this look. If you aren't Asian, and can't recreate the K-pop look, then throw on a pair of dark shades! Big sunglasses work well with that daring/edgy CL-like look too c:
